THE FLOWER ARRANGERS
St Mary's is very proud of its Flower Arranging Team. The team currently consists of ten regular dedicated members who
provide weekly arrangements of fresh flowers in Church throughout the
year. The changing seasons of the year, encourage the use of many
different materials and colours, each reflecting their own special
appeal, to create inspirational displays. For major Church festivals, i.e., Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and
Harvest, when extra and larger displays are needed, we are able to call
on additional flower arrangers from within our own congregation, to
help with this task. Everyone agrees that the completed displays
certainly enhance the beauty of our wonderful Church building. In addition to the regular church flowers and major festival
flowers, we are very involved in our Flower Festivals and Open
weekends. The recent Festival of Flowers Music and Worship held
in May of this year, (a few of the arrangements are shown above), was
very well received and extremely successful. All monies raised
over the festival weekend were divided between St Mary's Church
Restoration Fund and World Vision All flower displays in Church rely on donations given to the flower
fund, and gifts are most welcome so that we are able to continue to
provide flowers throughout the year. We are also able to provide special flower arrangements in memory of
a loved family member, to recall a significant event or anniversary.
These flowers are usually set at the base of the font, near the main
church entrance from the porch. A donation is required to cover
the cost of such flowers, and a small personal flower card can be
included if requested. Please contact Flower Secretary Sheila
Gregg, if you would like to make use of this service. Finally, if you feel you have a flair for working with flowers and
would like to become involved, please get in touch, we can certainly
find opportunities for anyone who would like to join us. |
