The role of a Server of the Sanctuary is to assist the Priest during a Eucharistic Service.  It is their job to make sure that everything is in place for the Priest to conduct the service. They also assist in the preparation of the altar table for the Eucharist (the consecration of the bread and wine).  At the 8.00 service only one Server is required as this is a simpler service, but at the 10.00 service two Servers called Acolytes assist the Priest at the table by passing the unconsecrated wafers, water and the wine which represents the body and blood of Christ,

they also provide the Priest with water and a towel for the washing of their hands. A third Server called a Crucifer carries the cross and leads the choir into church at the start of the service. It is also their job to receive the morning offertory for the Priest to bless, then at the end of the service the Crucifer leads the choir out of the church, their final responsibility is to make sure all candles are extinguished and the crosses and vessels that have been used are returned for safe keeping and that the church is tidy.
