Our Church Groups

St Mary's Church Choir
At St. Mary’s we greatly value our long-standing musical traditions and its contributions to our services. The choir is a mixed SATB (4 part) robed choir who sing voluntarily for our services. We are affiliated with the RSCM and use ‘Sunday by Sunday’ to help with our musical choices. We employ a Director of Music who plans the music, trains and conducts the choir.  We have choir practise every Friday evening in the church.  The Choir not only sing at Sunday services and other special occasions, but are available to sing at weddings to help make the day more memorable.  We have an organist that plays voluntarily for our services and also plays for weddings and funerals in a paid capacity.

Bell Ringers
St Mary's bell tower comprises 8 bells and the oldest amongst them dates back to 1687. The bells last had a complete overhaul back in 1948. Our heaviest bell is the Tenor, weighing just under half a ton. We have been affiliated to the Worcester and Districts Change Ringing Association since the early 1900s. We have an enthusiastic band of ringers of all ages and abilities, led by our tower captain. Ringing practice is normally on Tuesday evening at 7.30p.m. Throughout the year we ring for Sunday worship and special services such as The Royal British Legion Remembrance service and for weddings.

Mother's Union
St Mary's has an active Mother's Union branch, currently with 28 members, that meet in two groups - an afternoon group meeting monthly in the church hall, and an evening group meeting in people's homes. Members of the Mothers Union Branch at St. Marys promote and encourage initiatives in support of local ,national and international needs and together with members of the congregation hold coffee mornings, afternoon teas and sales of items produced by skills and talents of church members. We also hold Flower Festivals and Christmas Tree Festivals, which all contribute to a busy programme helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Weekly food collections support the local food bank. Toiletries, knitting and clothing go to the local Women’s refuge, the Teenage Mums project and The Homeless. At Christmas we support The Children’s Society and the Dudley Borough Operation Santa appeal for families in need and for many years we have sponsored 2 children through World Vision
